There are several kinds of lowball in poker where many kinds of low hands can be rewarded.  The many kinds of lowball that is commonly played are Ace to five, Ace to six low, Deuce to seven low, deuce to six low etcetera. 

Ace to five low is also known as the wheel, Aces play both low and straights and flushes do not matter.  This is the most commonly played lowball poker. 

Ace to six low is also known as 6-4 low. The lowest possible hand in this game is 6-4-3-2-A. Aces play both low and straights and flushes count against the high hands in this variant of lowball games, whereas the same does not matter as high hands in Ace to five low game poker.

Deuce to seven low is also known as called seven to five low because the lowest possible hand in this games is 7-5-4-3-2. Aces play high in this game and straights and flushes count as high hands in this game.

Deuce to six lowball is another variant, but this is very rarely played, the best possibility in this game is a 6-5 low. Aces are high cards and straights and flushes do not matter against winning.

Clarifying between Ace to five or deuce to seven or deuce to seven low or deuce to six low in low ball games is very important.  Some people play Ace to five when the game is for deuce to seven and the reverse also happens.  To prevent such confusions, it is better to question if it is an Ace to five or deuce to seven played before the cards are dealt. The same is true in situations where deuce to seven and deuce to six are being played.

Getting the clarification before the cards are dealt is important because after the game has begun if someone is going to question about what is being played then the others in the table might possibly figure out what we are up to playing.

Bet in lowball poker should be purely based on poker math and it should never be on the foundation of emotional grounds. Poker math based betting causes an optimized poker winning experience.  Emotional poker betting causes a lot of loss than winning. Quit playing emotionally.

The odds and probabilities of lowball games is totally opposite to high rank games. Moreover, the strategies differ for every variant of lowball like Ace to five, Ace to six low, Deuce to seven low, deuce to six low etcetera.
